A rare sight, the Chirikami is a solitary beast found in the highestmost reaches of Sol. Slaying one is considered a mark of power.

Entry I

In Far North folklore, Chirikami were at first a myth. Scared citizens told rumors of large, mighty wolves who could fell a cat in a single swoop. It wasn’t until the greater expansion of Borheim that catfolk came head to head with them on record.

The first officially recorded conflict came from a northbound scouting party out of Borheim. They described a “hound large as a bear, with fangs of ice” that ambushed them, killing one of their members, then dragged the corpse away. Scouters and sentries from early Borheim were subject to similar attacks. All attempts to trap or bait the Chirikami failed, and some believed it a vengeful spirit violencing the cats of Sol.

Over time, Sol grew its borders and settlement defenses in response to many different environmental threats, the Chirikami included, and attacks quickly subsided.

Today, slaying a Chirikami is considered the golden mark of a hero; a “chosen one.” Many heroic Sol legends begin with the protagonist nobly felling a Chirikami. The Chirikami population is exceedingly low, with estimates never exceeding fifty to sixty within Sol territory. In the past seventy years, only six pelts have ever been claimed, and most by Sol lords. Most catfolk will never see a Chirikami in their lifetime.

The few Chirikami that persist do so at the uppermost edges of Sol, often appearing in regions considered uninhabitable by catfolk.
