General Observation

Entry I
Explorers first wrote about Raptaroos near Cogwheel, reporting a lack of sleep from their incessant whooping and cackling. While initially considered an annoyance, Raptaroos were gradually found useful for for pest control, eventually becoming useful sentries of silos and grain fields. Some settlements have attempted further domestication, but Raptaroos prove too erratic and mischievous for domestic duties.
Hunters trade their fur and feathers, and the Raptaroos goofy antics are often the subject of frequent local jokes and stories. Archaeological findings suggest that ancient families entertained prehistoric Raptaroos, especially by allowing them to interact with kittens, which is supported by their overwhelmingly friendly demeanor towards catfolk.
The species has been around for centuries, surviving due to strong adaptability and a lack of predators. They are most adept at arboreal living, and are assumed to come from the deciduous ecosystems dotting southern Kotemara.
