The Kickstarter to raise money for Paw Borough's development was held from October 5th, 2022 through November 5th, 2022. The original goal was US$20,000, and the campaign ended with a total of $87,244.72 and 1,021 backers.
Backers were permitted to add additional add-ons through February 3rd, 2023.
Reward Levels
Backing the game rewarded backers various exclusive items. All tiers will give the backer at least one beta key, which gives the user access to the closed beta. Once the beta stage is on, items will be redeemable via codes. These codes can be used twice; once during closed beta, and once open beta begins.
Unlimited Tiers
Beta Tier ($5)
This tier would give a backer a beta key, a Javasqueak companion, and the Founding achievement on the backer's user page.
Digital Tier ($10)
This tier gives the backer the rewards from the Beta Tier, a Beta companion, the Protogear accessory, and the Electra Crest forum crest.
Arbor Tier ($15)
This tier gives the backer the rewards from the Digital Tier, a Toshi companion, the Creeping Thicket accessory, and the Orchard Crest forum crest.
Ghostly Tier ($20)
This tier gives the backer the rewards from the Arbor Tier, a Phantowl companion, the Necromantic Cloak accessory, and the Spectral Crest forum crest.
Moontail Tier ($30)
This tier gives the backer the rewards from the Ghostly Tier as well as Luna Stone, which is a stone exclusive to the Kickstarter campaign.
Bring a Friend ($35)
This tier gives the backer the rewards from the Moontail Tier as well as an additional Luna Stone and beta key.
Opal Tier ($50)
This tier gives the backer the rewards from the Bring a Friend Tier as well as a Featherbeau companion, an Iridescent Trail accessory, an Angelic Crest forum crest, an Opalescent Fountains backdrop, and a Moonstone Pool decor item.
Onyx Tier ($50)
This tier gives the backer the rewards from the Bring a Friend Tier as well as a Kitsugi companion, a Gilded Helm accessory, a Demonic Crest forum crest, an Onyx Composites backdrop, and an Obsidian Sentry decor item.
Monarch Tier ($80)
This tier gives the backer all of the rewards from the Bring a Friend Tier, the Opal and Onyx Tier exclusive items, and a Sacred Scepter accessory.
Fauna Fanatic ($90)
This tier gives the backer all of the rewards from the Monarch Tier, as well as an extra of each companion.
Limited Tiers
These tiers had a limited number of slots available. These tiers saw exclusive access to Early Bird keys, which allow a backer to access the closed beta three days before normal beta keys.
Early Cardinal ($50)
This tier was limited to a maximum of 100 backers, and all 100 were claimed. This tier operated as a special version of the Onyx and Opal Tiers, allowing backers to choose which of the two they'd prefer as well as replacing one of the beta keys with an Early Bird beta key.
Early Bluejay ($80)
This tier was limited to a maximum of 100 backers, and all 100 were claimed. This tier operated as a discounted version of the Fauna Fanatic Tier while replacing one of the beta keys with an Early Bird beta key.
Faunapedia Replica ($140)
This tier was limited to a maximum of 20 backers, and all 20 were claimed. This tier gives the backer all of the rewards from Early Bluejay as well as a physical hardcover first edition Faunapedia replica book, to ship at a later date.
Design a Recipe ($200)
This tier was limited to a maximum of 10 backers, and all 10 were claimed. This tier gives the backer all of the rewards from Early Bluejay and allows the backer to work with the Paw Borough team to design three raw food items and a final recipe item. The designed final recipe item would be made into a blueprint, a food item, and a themed decor item. This tier also gives the backer the Head Chef achievement.
Design a Companion ($350)
This tier was limited to a maximum of 10 backers, and all 10 were claimed. This tier gives the backer all of the rewards from Eerly Bluejay and allows the backer to work with the Paw Borough team to design a companion. This tier also gives the backer the Field Expert achievement.
Design an Accessory ($600)
This tier was limited to a maximum of 5 backers, and all 5 were claimed. This tier gives the backer all of the rewards from Early Bluejay and allows the backer to work with the Paw Borough team to design a clothing item. This tier also gives the backer the Seamstress achievement.
Expert Artisan ($900)
This tier was limited to a maximum of 5 backers, and 4 were claimed. This tier gives the backer all of the rewards from Early Bluejay and allows the backer to work with the Paw Borough team to design a recipe, a companion, and an accessory. This tier also gives the backer the Artisan, Head Chef, Field Expert, and Seamstress achievements.
Design a Gene ($900)
This tier was limited to a maximum of 5 backers, and 1 was claimed. This tier gives the backer all of the rewards from Early Bluejay and allows the backer to work with the Paw Borough team to design a gene. This tier also gives the backer the Artisan achievement.
Design a Leader ($1000)
This tier was limited to maximum of 4 backers, and all 4 were claimed. This tier gives the backer all of the rewards from the Faunapedia Replica Tier and allows the backer to work with the Paw Borough team to design a leader. The leaders to be designed were of Harvest, Sol, Cogwheel, and Metropolis. This tier also gives the backer the Leader achievement.
Design a Breed ($1500)
There was only one slot for this tier, and it was claimed. This tier gives the backer all of the rewards from the Faunapedia Replica Tier and allows the backer to work with the Paw Borough team to design the mystic counterpart breed to the Ragdoll. This tier also gives the backer the Custom achievement and the Faunapedia replica book.
Add-ons
Adding additional funds to the campaign would reward the backer with items. All unlimited tiers were available as add-ons for their normal prices. A backer could also add extra Luna Stones; $15 for one, $30 for two, and $35 for three. The Faunapedia replica was available as an add-on for $60.
Stretch Goals
The original $20,000 goal was to get the site's beta running, but stretch goals helped to give backers an idea of what could be fast-tracked to be added to the game at launch.
Color Expansion ($25k)
This stretch goal promised to add 74 additional Colors to the game for launch (bringing the launch total up to 151), as well as rewarding all backers with a Shuffle Stone.
Two New Breeds ($30k)
This stretch goal promised to add two new breeds to the game for launch; the Littlefangs and Stonehides. This goal also gives all backers two free transformation stones for these breeds.
Special Accent Gene ($40k)
This stretch goal promised to add an accent gene with four variations to the game for launch, Overgrowth. All backers will receive an Overgrowth Stone.
Custom Borough Themes ($50k)
This stretch goal promised to add the ability to add Borough-aligned themes to various parts of the site for launch. The default theme can still be switched to.
Companion Overlays ($60k)
This stretch goal promised to add Companion Overlays, which operates similarly to the Pelt system for companions.
Faunapedia Expansion ($80k)
This stretch goal promised to add over 50 extra companions to the game for launch.
Put Accessories on Kits ($90k)
This stretch goal promised to add accessories to kits. The nature of this means that the endeavor had to be committed to at launch, as the art demands are high. Although the campaign was a few thousand short, the Paw Borough team announced that they would pull from personal funds to make the difference and will add kit accessories to the game.
Player-ran Guilds ($100k)
Unhit, this stretch goal promised to create forum guilds where members can create games and campaigns with friends.
Optimized Mobile App ($130k)
Unhit, this stretch goal promised to create a mobile application for Paw Borough at the start, rather than porting the browser version into an app later down the line.
