The Phantowl is a Kickstarter exclusive Fauna item.
Appearance
The Phantowl is a dark purple creature with four avian legs, no wings, a short fluffy tail, two long ears, and a thick mane around its neck. The face of this creature is a skull that resembles that of an owl. Ghastly blue flames trail out of the empty eye sockets and from slits on its ribcage.
Obtainment
Rewarded to backers who pledged to the $20 USD Ghostly tier (or higher), or purchased the Ghostly Bundle add-on from the Kickstarter. This item has since retired with the closure of the Kickstarter, and can no longer be obtained outside of player trading or the Flea Market.

Entry I
The earliest accounts of the Phantowl comes from the Second Era, an age with a startling lack of empirical documentation, dubbing the Phantowl one of the oldest magic-touched creatures ever documented. Survivors of the first expeditions into the new, post-impact north claimed to have encountered a “bone-faced owl” that prowled through the burning forests on four legs, sporting giant, imposing claws. While intimidating, it did not attack. Instead, it scavenged the desecrated forests, picking at bones from the deadly aftermath of the Starfall Impact.
Later, scouts discovered animal carcasses in the area stripped clean, their bones clustered up in piles around odd spiral nests.
Interpretations of the Phantowl are varied throughout history; from an omen, to a ghost, to an executioner. Yet, no matter the interpretation, it has always struck fear in the hearts of locals.
Once the Unity Age came about, the Phantowl had a certain reputation. It punished trespassers in dark forests, signaled doomed expeditions, and dragged away inept travelers in order to tear them apart and gobble their remains.
Despite this widespread fear, the Phantowl’s actions have never matched its reputation. Its real diet consists of carrion. It has never been observed hunting live prey, only scavenging carcasses. And its large, imposing talons are best suited for stripping the stringy meat from corpses, rather than attacking.
