Editing Basic (Overcoat)

The '''Basic (Overcoat)''' [[Genes|Gene]] was to be an overcoat gene, but was scrapped in development and replaced by the [[Solid]] gene, in order to establish a pool of genes that were more stylized, complex and complementary to one another<sup>[https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/tbpt/paw-borough-the-feline-virtual-browser-rpg/posts/3805969]</sup>. It was present in the initial version of the demo, at the time of the [[Kickstarter]].

Cats with this gene had solid, single-color overcoats, save for a simple pair of markings around their eyes.

With the Basic overcoat, a cat's [[undercoat]] was visible on its chest, underbelly, paws and tailtip.
