General Observation

Hailing from the volcanic fields of Cogwheel, the Southern Romanovtsa is a mascot for Cogwheel's national sport: Scratchball.

Entry I

Cogwheel breeders selectively cultivated the Southern Romanovtsa for their olive sprigs and charming, piebald wool. Olive trees thrive in the luscious, volcanic soils of Cogwheel’s coastlines, and the Romanovtsa's domesticated role as both livestock and crop was quickly imported into the region.

Their wool pattern resembles that of a scratchball, Cogwheel’s sport of choice, and a game frequently practiced by Cogwheel children. With the rise of scratchball, the Southern breed's distinctive look is widely beloved.

The variant has become something of a cult cultural symbol. Unions, townships, and scratchball teams have started adopting Southern Romanovtsa as emblems and team mascots, with some teams even incorporating the live animals into their practice spaces. The lazy, docile Romanovtsa don’t mind a bit of friendly kit interaction, and like to graze on the scratchball fields.

Citizens of Cogwheel frequently trade the variant with outlying Boroughs. Zenith Borough, Cogwheel's largest rivals in international scratchball, has attempted to hybridize the Southern Romanovtsa with their local species. These hybrids have the same distinctive coats, but with speedier, more rambunctious personalities, often to the delight of Zenith citizens. Thus, the Southern Romanovtsa has made a name for itself in both Cogwheel and Zenith households.
